I am no longer in contact with my ex-husband/wife. How do I file my tax return?
In the year of divorce, a joint tax return is required.
However, sometimes ex-spouses no longer have any contact with each other, making it difficult or even impossible to obtain the information needed for the tax return, such as the ex-spouse's salary certificate.
In this case, you can simply file a tax return with your personal information, income and expenses.
You can then add a letter to your file explaining that you no longer have any contact with your ex-spouse and that, for this reason, you have not been able to include information about them.
