What documents do I need for my tax return?
Here is a non-exhaustive list of documents to prepare in order to correctly complete your tax declaration, along with information on how to obtain them:
Annual salary certificates
Provided directly by your employer, usually in January or February.
Certificates of indemnity income (sickness, maternity, unemployment)
Available on MyGuichet.lu or can be requested from the CNS, ADEM, or the relevant institution.
Pension certificates (CNAP, FNS, etc.)
Available via MyGuichet.lu or automatically sent by mail.
Foreign income certificates
To be requested from the foreign employer or pension institution.
Insurance certificates (liability, life, health, mutual, accident, etc.)
Sent annually by your insurance company.
Old-age provision insurance certificates (111bis, supplementary pension)
Issued by the insurer or the financial institution where the contract was taken out.
Home savings certificates
To be requested from a specialized institution approved such as BHW, Schwäbisch Hall, or Wüstenrot.
Certificates of interest paid on loans (personal or mortgage)
Generally provided automatically by your bank on a tax document.
Donation certificates
Issued by approved associations, often automatically sent after the donation.
Invoices or attestations for childcare expenses
Provided by the nursery, daycare center, or childminder.
Proofs for domestic help
To be provided as attestations from a service company or CCSS certificate if the person is employed privately.
Details of alimony payments made
Requires the judgment or agreement fixing the amount, accompanied by proof of payment (bank statements).
Rental income attestations
Provided by your property management agency or to be prepared by yourself if you manage the property directly. This includes rent received statements, invoices for deductible expenses, lease contracts, and any other documents justifying income and expenses related to the property.
Proof of income from capital (interest, dividends, capital gains)
Available from your bank or brokerage platform.
